Wings are going all the way. Zetterberg is back for the playoffs and with bertuzzi's hand relief he should score lots of goals.
Pittsburgh is a good team, however I do not think they have the defensive depth needed to go the distance. Ottawa vs. Pittsburgh should be a very exciting series.
Seriously? You mention Bertuzzi as a reason why the Wings will go all the way? If he's a bright spot on your team...
Besides, the Wings have a history of dropping out in the first round to Alberta teams...
haha, btw, what is this "hand relief" that you speak of? Does he make sexy time with Chelios? Very nice!
History means nothing. Bertuzzi doesn't add much to the Wings on the ice as of yet, but off the ice he boosts team morale by giving hand relief to the star players like datsyuk and lidstrom. Let us just hope that he doesn't go overboard and result in several groin injured players.
The reasons detroit will go all the way:
-Datsyuk won't choke in the playoffs this year
-Zetterberg is back from injury (key goal scorer)
-Samuelsson is healthy (just got 5 points in their last game)
-Hasek can flop like a fish out of water and make a key save
-Calder has found his groove with the wings and gets almost a point a game...for a second liner that is great
-Lidstrom (undoubtably the leagues best defenseman) and Schneider at the blue line
-Detroit is nearly unbeatable at home, while Calgary is terrible on the road. Detroit has home ice advantage.
And if Nashville manages to beat San Jose, Detroit will walk right through them as they have done all season.
"History means nothing."
"And if Nashville manages to beat San Jose, Detroit will walk right through them as they have done all season."
Hmmm...
Anyhow, Hasek will be done after game 1 with a groin injury/arm injury/rib injury/fingernail injury...
Still have one of the best backups in the league in Osgood to take over thrown. My team doesn't rely on one goalie like calgary and vancouver.
Osgood isn't that durable either. Over the past two seasons, he played in 56 games and was injured for 35 (35/91~40%), including games 4,5 and 6 against Edmonton in the first round last year. Apparently your 1-2 goalie punch is Mr.Glass and Mr.Icicle.
If you ask me, Minnesota is in the best shape as far as goaltending depth is concerned, with Manny Fernandez, Niklas Backstrom and Josh Harding.
Well I can't root for Colorado when they don't even make the playoffs...guess I'm backing Pittsburg!
San Jose has the best 1/2 with Nubokov and Toskala. Either way, the odds of both Hasek and Osgood being injured are slim to none. I would be more worried if I were vancouver or calgary. If they lose their goalies they have absolutely no chance.
PLAYOFFS START TODAY!!!!!!!!!
I don't disagree about Vancouver or Calgary. Nobody knows about Jersey though because Brodeur is probably the most durable goalie in the league. Luongo and Kipper have also proven to be very durable though so unless someone takes a run at the goalie on purpose, they should be fine.

Guys Guys, please, stop the back and forth. The Canucks are going places, with Luongo carrying them on his back. Only that man can give up 4 goals and have a GAA of 1.74 and a save percentage of .947 in that game. 72 saves in game one is just a warmup for whats to come.
Evan
Yeah, if they play like that again, he can look forward to a series of 70+ shot games :P
Do you think that he'll get more consideration for playing on Team Canada now that he plays in a Canadian market and behind a decent team? When he was in Florida he just kind of got ignored despite still being a top goalie facing around 50 shots a game...
I think Vancouver is going to lose round 1. Dallas is too strong for luongo to handle. They got lucky this game, dallas dominated.
The flames are done for, absolute destromination last night.
I think he will get more consideration for sure now that he is on a decent team. Having watched/listened to almost every game I know this. He was first star in so many games.
As for you kris, Dallas is too strong? You do realize they are one of the lowest scoring teams that made the playoffs and in the NHL in general (along with the canucks). I don't get where you come up with your arguments. You could argue that the canucks won't score enough on turco, but you can't say they are too much for luongo to handle. Learn some facts before you speak kris, you always have the stupidest arguments.
-Evan
I do it to piss you off and it works flawlessly.
And in terms of chances, dallas probably has like 10x the amount of Vancouver
How about them Wings? Trying to repeat history with the Flames?
You hardly pissed me off Ross...I actually thought you were challenged for your comment.
And it sure appears that those Wings are going all the way...especially when they are struggling with the powerhouse flames.
-Evan
Yes how about those wings....
If it wasn't for kipper it would have been a sweep, with each game being about 10-1 (except games 3&4 would have been like 10-3).
They outshot the flames 2-1 and played good every game. Calgary really only showed up for 2 games (slightly in game 6...mostly kipper kept them in it)
Looks like the Canucks are going all the way....not scoring a goal in 6.5 periods against Dallas. Good luck with Anaheim if you do manage to win
