Moving...Again

Blake and I managed to find a pretty nice house in Lakeview for a reasonable price. The only downside of the house is that the bedrooms are rather small (especially compared to the one that I have now), and both of us have large beds. I suppose that the spin I could put on that is that if I'm really drunk and manage to make it to my bedroom door, there's a good chance of landing on my bed if I pass out.

Check out Blake's Blog for a few pics of our new place.

The Perfect Girl vs. The Perfect Toilet

Collegehumour.com recently had a great article about attributes that we, as men, look for in the perfect girl and how they remarkably overlap with what we look for in a perfect toilet. In particular, we seem to appreciate the following qualities in both:
  • Smell nice.
  • Have not been used by a lot of guys.
  • Be disease-free.
  • Be worthy of sharing with your friends.
  • Not require protection to use.
  • Be pube-free
  • Appear clean enough for your mother to approve.
  • Not mind being peed on.
  • Have no fetuses inside.
  • Have soft toilet paper nearby for when you’re finished.

Charmed and Dangerous says "No Thanks" to Mixed Nuts

We played great tonight. I'm not sure what the score was, other than the fact that we severely out-played them. The new graduate student who joined our team was a great late-round pick-up for us. He's pretty much our offence. Defence is pretty fantastic on our team as well. Thanks to Shaun for taking a ball in the pooper for me. Like I told you last night, I'd rather it was your butt than my face...unless you buy me dinner ;)

    My stars for the game:
    1. Gia Khoriauli: Probably involved in every goal that we got on top of scoring at least 3 of his own. I see a team MVP nomination coming his way...
    2. Kamal Benslama: Wow, that was a great top shelf goal from half-court. As much as I hate to say it, "Team ATLAS" is our Thornton/Cheechoo
    3. Nikolay Kolev: Got himself a goal and always seemed to be in the right place to block a shot/steal the ball.
I think the first two spots are pretty obvious but the third one could be so many people from our team...I picked one (plus, I gotta represent ILC!)

BTW, if you're interested in the aerodynamics of a soccer ball, they're being demonstrated before your eyes above.

    Meh.

As I sit here grading labs I have come to the conclusion that the combination of milk and cookies is grossly overrated. I find that my oreo cookies taste exactly the same after I dip them, even if I let them soak for an extended period of time (on the order of seconds). Maybe I need to try different cookies? Perhaps I should set up some sort of apparatus to suspend the cookie in the milk for a longer time frame leaving me with a soggy treat? *shrug*

Guess I'll drink around the floaties in my milk now...

    You're a rabid anti-dentite!

JERRY: So you won't believe what happened with Whatley today. It got back to hime that I made this little dentist joke and he got all offended. Those people can be so touchy.
KRAMER: Those people, listen to yourself.
    JERRY: What?
KRAMER: You think that dentists are so different from me and you? They came to this country just like everybody else, in search of a dream.
JERRY: Kramer, he's just a dentist.
KRAMER: Yeah, and you're an anti-dentite.
JERRY: I am not an anti-dentite!
KRAMER: You're a rabid anti-dentite! Oh, it starts with a few jokes and some slurs. "Hey, denty!" Next thing you know you're saying they should have their own schools.
JERRY: They do have their own schools!
    KRAMER: Yeah!....
Looks like our buddy Michael Richards really went off the deep end. Here's a censored version of the little rant that he spewed off at a black man in the audience who had been heckling him:

    "Fifty years ago we'd have you upside down with a f***ing fork up your ass." Richards continued, "You can talk, you can talk, you're brave now motherf***er. Throw his ass out. He's a n***er! He's a n***er! He's a n***er! A n***er, look, there's a n***er!"

There's not much to say about that other than "Wow"...

    Fooled You!

Wednesday was horrible, I couldn't really move all day. Yesterday I felt fine, almost good enough to go play soccer. Yet here I am today with a headache and coughing up something that looks like the broccoli soup that my mom made one time, and one time only.

Who told these illnesses that they could mutate with a sense of humour? The old "fooled you!" trick might work great for political campaigns, but let's leave it out of cases of personal well-being.

    Blair out.

    Lessons From a Bachelor

Cereal lasts a really long time when you're not sharing it with anyone. Milk...not so much.

    Spider-Man 3

I'll try to avoid talking about that horrible ass-whooping we took yesterday and instead present you with this fantastic new trailer for Spider-Man 3. It looks damn good if you ask me.

    Check me out!

I've finally arrived at the Department of Physics website. It's nice to be acknowledged as part of the team... I'm actually pretty happy with my photo. I think I'm somewhere between Iaonna's beauty shot and Blake's mugshot.

    Spin, spin, spin

    BEGIN RANT

I didn't think that it was possible for an entire lab section to do an experiment wrong. Leave it to the engineers to go ahead and take education to a new low. I'm not sure what they teach in high school these days but apparently it has nothing to do with learning and all to do with ignorance. Read the damn lab manual people.

    END RANT

Here's a haiku that I wrote last year while teaching Phys 119 to an entire section of engineers:

    Why can't they get it?
    Two resistors in series

    And yet they still fail.

    Here Kitty Kitty Kitty...

One down, two to go! Wow, what a game. I've never seen our defense as inspired as they were yesterday. I knew that we had that kind of talent on our team, the problem has always been that they don't show up. Well, they showed up yesterday and they left Burris completely clueless. If our offense can play with half the intensity that our defense did then there's a spot waiting for us in the Grey Cup final.

    Blair's Three Stars:
    1. Kenton Keith; 141 rushing yards, 2 TDs. Our team lives and dies by KK
    2. James Johnson; 2 clutch interceptions. Can't expect much more from a rookie DB
    3. Marcus Howell; 266 yards and 1 TD on punt/kick off returns. This guy gave our special teams a fit!
Honourable mentions: Maurice Lloyd, Matt Dominguez and, most importantly, Smilin Hank for gift wrapping this one for us.
